Our Story

LOL was founded by a student who didn’t know the art of cooking. The student invested the time and energy by reading cooking-related books and watching cooking videos on YouTube rather than focusing on studies and projects given by the tutors. The outcome of whatever he tried to cook was not edible. Once the student was hungry and sitting in the library thinking of the options, one of the classmates offered lunch to the student. This was a noble gesture which gave birth to an idea. The student looked around and thought, how many students would be desiring for good food at an affordable price. The founder wanted to enable the students with a meal box service which would take care of the hunger and help them focus on their careers and support their dreams. Just one less thing to worry about in a new country was the motive behind this idea.

Why the name LOL?

The founder wanted a short name which is easy to remember and can be read in any direction i.e. horizontal or vertical (left to right or right to left) with limited pronunciation errors. A word which people are familiar with and is used by them in their daily life.

Sustainability

Environment: The meal will be supplied in compostable boxes to keep it environmentally friendly. The ingredients used will be seasonal locally available to reduce carbon footprints. Recycling organic food wastage in the form of compost which helps the environment

Culture: LOL will prepare food keeping in mind the cultural values of the customer. For example, we will not use the same utensils to cook vegan food in which non-vegetarian food was cooked to respect vegan’s

Employees: LOL will offer birthday work off to employees and discounts on products

Customers: Research shows, 79% of New Zealand kids would like to have dinner with their family. The meal box will bring the families together while they are sharing their dinner. Customers data will be protected and kept confidential

Community: Good quality left-over food will be given to the charitable trusts. Partner up with “Love Soup” charitable trust. Also, LOL would create job/internship opportunities for the students
